Player Development

Player Development

Our training model provides athletes with a balanced approach to development, including:

• Three weekly training sessions
• Tuesday Practice
• Thursday Practice
• Saturday or Sunday team practice (schedule varies)
• Position-specific skill development
• Team systems and situational play
• Small-area games and competitive drills
• Goalie development opportunities

Beyond the Ice

We believe elite players are developed in many ways—not just during practices.

Our program includes:

• Off-Ice Training focused on strength, speed, agility, balance, and injury prevention.
• Classroom Sessions covering hockey IQ, systems, leadership, nutrition, and mental performance.
• Video & Film Study to analyze gameplay, reinforce concepts, and help players understand the game at a deeper level.

Building Strong Leaders

Steel City Selects encourages players to become leaders within their teams, schools, and communities. Through mentorship, accountability, and positive culture, athletes learn valuable life skills that extend far beyond hockey.

Community & Philanthropy

Giving back is an important part of who we are.

Throughout the season, our teams participate in community service projects, charitable initiatives, and outreach events that teach players the importance of compassion, gratitude, and serving others. We believe great teammates become great citizens.
